Bully by Penelope Douglas

Our rating: 3.9 stars

A sizzling hot read, Bully features everything that makes New Adult books so addictive; from explosive drama to naughty scenes and unbelievable characters, the book intends to keep you glued till the very end.

Bully’s Tate and Jared used to be the best of friends growing up. Having been neighbors since they were yay-high, the two relied on each other for comfort away from their tumultuous families. But then Tate’s sick mother dies and she’s forced to move away for awhile, leaving behind Jared, whose home life is just beginning to become unbearable.

His crutch gone, Jared starts acting out, channeling his fear and pain into destructive habits. So much so that when Tate finally returns, his approach to staying close to his childhood friend is by bullying her.

However, grown up Tate won’t take the abuse any longer. What ensues is a gripping slew of events involving a battle of wills and what must be (I presume) every tele novella’s plot line.

The book is a definite fun page turner, and where it lacks in maturity it more than makes up for with great one-liners and smh moments.

Through her Fall Away series, Penelope Douglas has penned a fun tale of friendship and hate, and the thin line in between.
